Paper Wings and Auctions Ending 6/23

Paper Wings

So creative and fun! And I'm fortunate to have a beautiful bustled culotte set to auction this week. UNFORTUNATELY, it's a relist, and was left at 5 days, so it will end on Sunday, FATHER'S DAY. Ack! Well, that's how it goes. It has a reserve, but since it's only been worn once (and still fits), we're not in a hurry to sell it. On the other hand, Paper Wings is beautiful and expensive. This is a chance to own one of these gorgeous creations for a much lower price.

I love the way Paper Wings describes its designs (from paperwings.com.au):

"PAPER WINGS – Celebrating Childhood.

Welcome to PAPER WINGS, a creative mix of past, present and future ideas in children’s product design.
At PAPER WINGS, our focus is on enhancing the lives of children by creating products that positively influence the way they look, feel, play and experience their environment. All pieces are designed to be ‘every day favourites’ - lovingly worn out rather than outgrown.

Jason Gibaud and Michelle Fallon provide the artistic vision and technical expertise behind our unique company. The inherent beauty and function of PAPER WINGS collections reflects Jason and Michelle’s success in costume design, feature film production and their combined experience in architecture & interior design. The joy of raising their own children, Vevette and Esther, is also key to the practicality, comfort and great fun inherent in all PAPER WINGS products.

PAPER WINGS design influences are wonderfully eclectic, with strong links to historical shapes, traditional crafts, and to both vintage and contemporary graphics. With a professional background in internationally acclaimed feature films such as Moulin Rouge, Star Wars and Peter Pan, Jason and Michelle have evolved many fresh and unusual approaches to range development.
All collections are individually manufactured and most importantly, hand finished with the greatest care. PAPER WINGS is committed to providing premium quality products, utilising the finest natural fibres. The breathtaking rural setting of our design studio in Northern New South Wales, Australia, is a great source of inspiration.

PAPER WINGS celebrates the freedom of being children, looking like children and - most importantly - feeling like children."

At first I was thinking that children really couldn't wear this stuff just everyday. But you know, it's all machine washable. Why not? I've always been the advocate for buying special, unique things for children and really letting them wear them. What's the point in having it, if you aren't using it? It's the exact same amount of laundry. And you KNOW these little girls just LOVE to dress up fancy, crazy, different, in their bright colors & ruffles. Children really express themselves with what they choose to wear, in a way that is completely unencumbered by the adult sense of appropriateness. I do draw the line with weather-appropriate, but otherwise...why not just get her some bustled culottes and let her wear them to the park??

And yes, I do use my wedding china too. I've always had a saying, "If you die with service for 12, you haven't lived." Risk breaking a few plates. You'll be happier.

NEW auctions are coming up tomorrow night. I promise. Really. I just gotta write some. :D

We have coming up some Salt-Water Sandals (size 10). These are by far my favorite, and my own daughter gets them in most of the colors every year. They are cute, come in tons of colors, are nearly indestructible, and Hoy Shoe Company still manufactures right here in the USA (Texas). Not all of them are made here any more, but I like to support a company that's paying Americans to actually MAKE things, kwim?

Also coming up:
  • 24m Dresses
  • 24m Skorts from TCP
  • Customs, including chenille and halter tops
  • Mim-Pi
  • Baby Lulu
  • Chatti Patti
  • More Gymboree Strawberry (pants to match the shirts from the last batch - oops)
  • Toddler Boys authentic Hawaiian Shirts
I also just received another box today -who knows what's in there?

AND, don't laugh...I already have fall big girls' things here to do. PILES of beautiful Mim-Pi, Ooh La La Couture, Juicy Couture and more! Most of them are brand new! They grow so fast. :( Now if I can only finish summer....

Nicest Buyers

Can I just take a moment to say that I have some of the nicest bidders & buyers on eBay? I know I'll probably jinx myself just by saying it, but THANK YOU to all of you pleasant people that I get to correspond with while I'm on this journey of auctioning all my & my friends' things. :) I'm so happy that it's not just business, but it's also a pleasure. :D

YOU ROCK!

Auctions ending Tuesday 6/9

I have just a few, gorgeous items ending this week, and some more coming up on Tuesday. I have to say that the Baby Gassy Gooma really is looking darling. I have had my issues with BGG in the past, notably I just think it's too bad that they are manufacturing overseas, but I was really taken by the items I received this season for auction. After offerings from Lakeshore Drive and a stunning outfit from Aunt Emma's Orchard, I've received two additional cuties this week:

Aunt Emma's Roses (pictured left)
Cherry Bo Berry (below)

Those cherries just seem to keep coming every season, but always manage to look as fresh as ever. Both outfits have a soft knit tops and matching jeans - a comfy and sensible outfit for a little girl. Each of these offerings was worn only once, and so of course they are perfect like new.

Also coming up in this batch, you'll find:
  • Cakewalk
  • Chipie
  • ave.blu
  • Just Ducky Originals
  • Biscotti
  • Kate Mack
  • Psketti
  • Gymboree
  • Janie and Jack
  • Moret Dancewear
See them all by searching eBay for gudwiin. :)

Even though it's June, bidders are still out there looking for those special items, and I'm happy to say that I'm still receiving lots of totally cute things!

Coming up next week: some 24m dresses, boy's authentic Hawaiian shirts and some fresh boutique custom resells in sizes 2-4. If you won Gymboree Strawberry shirts a couple weeks ago, the pants have now surfaced (!) and will be available in next week's auctions too.

Thanks for looking!

Hello and Welcome!

Hello and Welcome to Gudwiin Auctions. This blog is dedicated to the announcements that go along with my eBay auctions, current and upcoming. It's really just a placeholder - with an easy url that you can find to see what's for sale and what's coming up.

I started simply listing my own girl's things, then started listing for a friend. Then another friend asked if I'd list hers too. I am now listing for 4 or 5 girls (depending on the season), all of whom have beautiful wardrobes. Some of these little girls model and so earn a nice selection of outfits to go with their season's work. Others simply have great taste and love to find those beautiful and unique items to express their identity. The common thread is that all of us prefer high-quality and unique things for our children, and so the resulting collection is simply beautiful. Each girl has slightly different taste, so there's bound to be something for nearly everyone.

I intend to use this blog as a hub for eBay listings, news, apparel reviews and recommendations. It's really just for me and those few who are always asking, "What are you listing next?" "When are you putting up fall?" "Anything good coming up soon?" As I start to learn my buyers' taste, I'll be able to make individual recommendations. I don't plan to blog too frequently, so don't be afraid to follow my posts. I have a few favorite designers too, so I hope to be able to gush about their new collections as well. There are a million small websites, blogs and stores online. This one is just for me and my few compatriots in the quest for the perfect things for our littles. If we share and find a bargain in the process, all the better. I'm not trying to write for a big audience, get advertisers or figure out who's wearing what. I will announce what I'm currently listing, which includes at this time mostly girl's things size 24m-7 and a few boy's size 7-8 things. Some things are new, some are used, all are lovely and in excellent condition.

A word about retail. Boutiques especially work very hard to find the absolute best for their particular niche customer. Don't be afraid to pay full price for that special something. When a buyer has found a gem and made it available to you in a timely manner, go ahead and reward them with some profit. Money is always tight, but we can make good choices. Isn't it better to have one beautiful outfit than three common ones? Who wants to look like everyone else? Don't be afraid to call customer service and ask how something fits. You will be pleased to find cheerful people who want you to be happy and your children to look amazing! I love my favorite online boutiques. And my favorite local ones too. If you can find something perfect second hand or on sale, then awesome! But if you love it, want it, need it - then it's a creation that speaks to you. Buy it.

I have noticed that the specific items that I'm listing for these particular buyers are always the ones that can no longer be found online. These won't be in the bargain stores or outlets. These are the items that sold out right away - these moms picked the cream of the crop for their little girls and cared for them well, so they look beautiful - even the second time around. I hope you love them too!

My current favorites online:
www.BritchinPost.com for their fun, girly, sparkly, crazy selections
www.EverythingButThePrincess.com for their high-quality, tasteful, beautifully-made European fashions
www.cwdkids.com for their house brand that's MADE IN THE USA. I can't tell you how important that is.

Locally, if you find yourself in San Luis Obispo, PLEASE visit Hopskotch Kids on Garden Street. Mignon does a wonderful job of creating an atmosphere where you can explore and find a treasure. She has fun, modern taste and chooses everyday items that are anything but ordinary. Pay Hopskotch Kids a visit - you won't be disappointed! I also love that Coalition Board Shop (on Monterey) and One Way Board Shop (on Madonna) carry lots of really great surf/skate stuff for boys. Some of these brands are doing a fantastic job stylewise being unique boyswear that's tough, sophisticated and anything but dorky.

I hope you find your special something. As always, thanks for listening.
